Will SteerClear Fit Your Machine?
SteerClear Mirrors are designed to fit a wide variety of skid steers and compact track loaders. However, mounting configurations can vary by make, model, and year.
Follow these three simple steps to find the best mounting location and determine whether SteerClear is a good fit for your machine.
1. Find the Ideal Mounting Area
Start by looking at the loader arms near the front of the cab. Ideally, your mirrors should sit slightly ahead of the operator, similar to the position of side mirrors on a vehicle.
The exact placement can vary depending on your machine, so look for a suitable mounting location within this general area.
2. Find a 4-Inch Mounting Surface
Next, examine the top of the loader arm within your desired mounting area.
The top portion of the SteerClear mounting bracket measures 4 inches, so you'll want to identify a section where the bracket can rest securely.
Some machines have plenty of unobstructed space, making placement easy. Others have hydraulic lines, hoses, or additional components that require a little more consideration.

3. Check the Strap Path
Once you've identified a potential mounting location, look at the inside of the loader arm to determine how the ratchet strap will wrap around it.
For the most secure fit, we recommend keeping the strap as close to the arm as possible, rather than routing it over hydraulic lines or hoses.
Depending on your machine's configuration, the strap may need to pass around nearby components. The key is to ensure that it can be tightened securely without pinching, damaging, or interfering with any lines or moving parts.

Special Fitment Considerations
Every machine is a little different! Some loader arm configurations may require a slight adjustment to achieve the best fit. Here are a few things to watch for and how to work around them.
Raised Lips or Edges
Some machines have a raised lip that extends above the top surface of the loader arm. This can create a small gap underneath the 4-inch portion of the mounting bracket.
The good news: A small piece of rubber or appropriately sized shims can often fill this gap and allow the bracket to sit securely.
Hydraulic Lines and Protective Covers
Some machines have hydraulic guards or covers positioned near the ideal mirror mounting area.
In these situations, moving the mirrors slightly farther back on the arm may provide a suitable mounting location.
Exposed hydraulic lines can also limit your options, but a workable location may still be available if there's enough room for the bracket and the lines remain clear of pressure or interference.
Angled Arm Surfaces
Not all loader arms have a flat top. Some have angled surfaces that prevent the upper portion of the mounting bracket from sitting completely flat.
That's not necessarily a dealbreaker!
What's most important is that the bracket sits firmly against the side of the arm and the strap can be tightened securely. A stable connection against the side is more important than having the top of the bracket perfectly level.
Different Top and Bottom Arm Angles
On some machines, the top and bottom of the loader arm have different angles or tapers. This can prevent the strap from sitting evenly and may allow the mounting bracket to shift or slip.
We recommend finding a position where the top and bottom surfaces have matching angles so the strap can maintain a secure hold.
Moving the bracket slightly forward or backward may solve the issue. If there isn't a suitable position within the ideal mounting area, SteerClear may not be the best fit for that particular machine.
Extra-Wide Loader Arms
SteerClear Mirrors come standard with a 36-inch ratchet strap, which accommodates most loader arms.
If your machine has an extra-wide arm and you think you'll need a longer strap, no problem! Simply email us at support@steerclearmirrors.com before placing your order, and we'll arrange to include a longer strap with your mirrors.
